Why Are You Building an Online Business?

Why would anyone want to start an online business?

I think that the idea of sitting on a beach and making millions of dollars by doing nothing except promoting a webpage is a dream of many (but few realize it). I believe the figure is that 97% of internet marketers fail. So why should you start?

I began my business in 2007 because up until I had my first child, I was working two jobs to help make ends meet. I had a great primary job (--still do--I love it!) but due to some bad financial decisions early in my adulthood, I found myself with more debt than I was comfortable with and wanted to be able to pay it off faster. Besides, who doesn't want a little extra money on the side? I had a lot of fun with my "second" jobs...I drove the transit bus for the local college and then after that I was a waitress at the local family Italian restaurant.

However, once I had children of my own, I could not spend all day working one job and come home at night to leave for a second. I still wanted to have that second income to be able to pay off my debts and save for my retirement and children's college. So I began to look for an online opportunity that would fit into my dreams and allow me to be a mom as my primary job. It also allows me to raise money for the Urban Ministries of Wake County (a charity where I used to live that provides a food bank, homeless shelter and a free medical clinic) as well as several other charities. I could not have been more excited when I got started--a chance to really help others and help my family in the process.

Once I had picked an business opportunity, I still struggled to find success. I realized that a perfect opportunity is only good when I know how to share it with others. So many people I met on the internet claimed that they had the answer for me in their free e-book. I got so disappointed when the ebook ended up just being a promotion for some information that they were selling. I would even sometimes buy their information...only to be disappointed that it was not really what I was looking for and not useful to me.

I got plugged into a team of like minded people who helped me set up marketing strategies and helped me learn how to grow my business. Those people were so helpful in teaching me every step of the way that I want to do the same for anyone interested in building an online business for themselves. So I am starting this blog to help others to reach their dreams and build their business by providing information on who, what, where, when and why on internet marketing for any business opportunity.

  1. Hi Sandy,
Your blog is OK. For a person like me who is a pour reader and likes shore, concise and to the point blogs it was a little long. I try to keep my blogs as short as I can and have one point I am trying to get across. However, I think my MPM blog was also my longest blog.
